Smeg dishwasher stuck in a cleaning cycle
Discussion
I'm hoping someone may be able to help me with this. I have a Smeg DWI612C dishwasher that runs perfectly - it just does it for hours! I noticed the other day that the machine should've finished its cycle but was still going after several hours. I stopped it, turned it off at the mains and left it a while. When I restarted it, it drained the water that was in there (which still had detergent in it, it clearly hadn't gotten to the 'rinse' part of the cycle) and then proceeded to start again doing the same thing.
I've checked all the filters (clear) and things like the salt level (fine). I'm wondering whether it's a control board or similar playing up.
Is it time to call in an engineer, or are there things I can check before doing so?

Right, apparently it's control board and stat. Quoted £310 to repair. Ouch.
Wondering whether to buy a new one with a new warranty for not much more. Any PHers deal in white goods?
How much to buy the part and fit it yourself ? There'd not much to it I'd wager.Wondering whether to buy a new one with a new warranty for not much more. Any PHers deal in white goods?
I've used a site called eSpares for washing machine, cooker and freezer bits in the past and they were quite good.

I found Servevast cheaper than eSpares when I tried to fix my SMEG dishwasher; but they won't offer any advice.I've used a site called eSpares for washing machine, cooker and freezer bits in the past and they were quite good.
To the OP, I had the DWI612C and replaced the heating element and that didn't fix it, at that point I decided to replace as the cost of anything else was just too similiar to the cost of getting a new one.
I bought a Smeg DI6012 from AppliancesOnline for £290 , included delivery and taking the old dishwasher away for recycling. Very happy with the service took all packaging and the old dishwasher away, and kept me informed about the delivery. Only thing I had to do was attach the hoses and re-attached the door and then position it back in place. All fairly easy to do, just remember to remove the cabinet door from the dishwasher and detach the hoses before they turn up.
The SMEG DI6012 appears to be a direct replacement for the DWI612C, check the dimension etc before buying of course; but you can't tell that mines been replaced and I'm not great at DIY

I'm actually looking at getting a Bosch SMV50C00GB having done some investigating. I can get it for £360 delivered and I'll fit it myself...
Apparently Bosch are leagues ahead of Smeg's offerings, as well as being considerably cheaper.
Can't comment on quality, just check that it will fit correctly in your current space, the SMEG is quite tall(88 against 81 for the Bosch you mention), you don't want a 2 inch gap at the top. Apparently Bosch are leagues ahead of Smeg's offerings, as well as being considerably cheaper.
Also need to ensure the front door you have will fit on the Bosch. Not sure of how interchangeable the cabinet doors are , hence why I replaced mine with a SMEG, less issues and the dishwasher is hidden behind the matching door.

Thanks for the heads-up on the height issue. I hadn't spotted that. Looks like it's got to be another Smeg then...
May be worth checking the to see if the Bosch has adjustable height. The Smeg came delivered set to about 82-3 cm in height , but you can adjust the feet about an inch to force the top to hit the work surface. Just wanted to raise the issue as you don't want to order and then find the issue.Anyway enough from me, hopefully someone who knows will be along soon
