Glue

Hi all. Can anyone recommend a good strong glue?

I would like the strength and consistency of araldite bit without the faff of mixing. Also 10 mins setting time would be good!

IMO you won't get anything stronger than Araldite without mixing a hardener into the resin.

Can't you get araldite that comes in a twin walled syringe? So an easy option as opposed to two different pots.

There's nothing specific in mind to glue, just general purpose.

I don't like contact adhesive simply because of the faff of putting it on both surfaces.

Looks like araldite it is then, they do a rapid set, so I'll try that.

Just thought the PH crowd would have something more advanced by now.

Two pack epoxy glues like ARALDITE are unbeatable for strength and durability.

There are cheaper copies, most pound shops sell generic two pack glue.

But Araldite is the best. You get what you pay for.

The correct/best adhesive to use depends on the situation. There is no one easy-to-use glue that will do every job in seconds. The more you cut corners, the worse the result will be.

For wood I use Evo-Stik Resin W; for veneers and other large flat things I use impact adhesive (Evo-Stick or Thixofix); for hard non-porous things like porcelain I use superglue (cyanoacrylate) and if it really really has to stick, Araldite.

Agreed, my favourites tend to be Araldite for rock solid suff, Dunlofix contact adesive for flexible things like leather, card etc. and super glue for a quick fix. Oh yeah and Resin W is perfect for wood.

Blimey, that was my father's favourite, and also Casco which was different but I can't remember how. But as it's water-based doesn't it buckle/warp veneer like a bd?

Silicone glue is excellent for bonding non-porous items such as plastic.

No
It goes off very quick as I use a heated veneer press. ( at college )
The press exerts some serious PSI and it comes out flat as a pancake.

Bah, you should use Scotch glue and one of those semi-circular things with a handle...

Veneer Hammer. Yes use that as well sometimes. Depends on the job
