Sat here faffing about with a hairdryer and a plastic spatula trying to defrost my freezer and it occurs to me that someone must be able to come up with a more Pistonheads way.

Any thoughts? biggrin

Switch off, open door, go for a drive for a couple of hours.

Blow torch?

Or get a few mates over, leave it switched off but full of beer, by the time you've finished drinking it should be done (and your beer will be warm and foul).

Just what I was thinking...

...if you are going to electrocute yourself at least let a few other share in the laughs too!

I didn't know freezers need defrosting nowadays. But when I used to have one I just switched it off and opened the door.

Takes too long. Got to get all the ice out and the frozen food that's in the fridge back in before it defrosts!

I've used a Polti steam cleaner before, it can get a bit foggy inside while you're using it but it works a treat, you can cut through the ice at plastic level saving plenty of melting time.

Don't use a flathead screw driver either and it tends to get expensive rather fast whistle

My apologies. This should really do it.

less macho but... couple of bowls of boiling water, door almost closed, come back in ten mins then crack on with hairdryer again,

if you want to make defrosting it easier next time, just before you turn it back on wipe it down with some fabric conditioner (ask the missus!) the ice just slides off it.

You're probably not far off today fella.

Personally I'd get the butler to go get the housekeeper who could discuss with the caretaker whose job it was whilst I'm out shooting peasants...

But that's just me.

That sounds pretty kinky..

...how do you get her to agree to being covered in fabric conditioner in the first place?!
