I have a boiler in an uninsulated part of the house. It has a little electric heater to protect from frost, but it looks like the previous owners may have just plugged it in and left it on at a low temp all year round!

Am going to wire it up to a thermostat (well, plug it in to a plug in jobbie), but what temp do boilers need protecting from? I'm assuming something between 1degC and 5degC?

Hi mate,

Buy a Frost stat rather that thermostat. I normally set them to kick in when the temperature drops to 5 degrees. Not had any problems yet smile

Thanks Russ - what's the difference with a frost stat...?

The thing I've bought operates between 0C and 30C and I'm hoping (not delivered yet) it'll switch power off and on between certain thresholds.
