I've got a kitchen-type cabinet with loose hinges. Where the hinge screws into the cabinet it's loose. Bigger screws are not an option so I was thinking of sticking some glue into the holes then screwing it up again, leaving the door off until the glue has set.

But what would be the best sort of glue to use to make sure it doesn't just go all wobbly again?

Dip a matchstick (or multiples of) in PVA (woodglue)and use it to pack out the hole

Ahh, so fill the hole with bits of matchstick and PVA, then screw the screws back in again?

Probably just matchsticks would do it, and less messy. Just push in and snap off.

Sorry, but this is Pistonheads. Shouldn't you be telling the OP:

"No, don't use PVA, use a composite epoxy with a carbon fibre mesh - much stronger and lighter!"

The purchase of a new large power tool is also required.

how about filling the hole with gripfill then screwing back in, wiping the excess off and leaving to set? maybe tigerseal if you got some kicking about? not worth buying a whole tube just for a couple of screwholes?

maybe even araldite thats 2pack, the one you mix before setting rock solid!

Ikea do some cabinet hinges that grip the hole, so you can fit them without screws, I think they are actually Blum items, but I've only been able to find them at Ikea. I've used them a few times and the work very well...
