I needed an internal bi-fold door in a bit of a rush so arriving tomorrow from Wickes is the only thing I could find in the right size. They only did knotty pine rather than clear and didn't do the size I need in moulded.

It states on the website that the door will arrive 'ready to paint' but I have concerns that any residual sap in the knots will eventually seep through the paint and ruin the look of it.

If I wanted to seal the knots what should I use? Anyone got a product they recommend? Whilst I’ve never done it before I’ve heard of these things not working quite as advertised.

My recommendation is Zinsser B.I.N, it is a primer sealer. Available from Homebase and other DIY outlets. thumbup

There is a producst called knotting - brush it on the knots, let it dry then prime and paint door as normal.

Unfortunately that's how I knew to do it in the first place. I replaced the ballasters on the stairs a couple of years ago and all of them now have faint brown marks showing through. Don't want that to happen again on this door.
