Why does this tap not work?

Cold bathrom tap - won't work - you can only turn the head a few turns and nothign comes out bar a few drops - had it apart and took the body out...



Why it no worky and how do I make it work?

Thanks in advance - a DIY hopeless.

You can just buy another one of those for a few quid at the plumbers merchant.

If that is a normal tap where you turn it on with a couple of turns instead of a quarter turn, then I think the plunger is seized, you could try soaking it in vinegar (if it's limescale that's jamming it) overnight and see if the mechanism frees.

You've undone the circlip, so you you should be able to separate it into two from what you have in your picture. Clean it all up and grease it all up with silicone grease. Rebuild and see if it's any better.

Exactly what I was going to say. Also the washer looks a bit swollen, may aswell replace that.

The two hexagons have come unmeshed. Give it a good clean. Grease it. Line it up. Push it in and fit the circlip.

Not that simple. The splines on the top are not universal.
