damp proof membrane

im in the process of putting in a new floor. The problem is that the room is 3.8m wide by aprox 20m.

The diggest size i can find anywhere for sheeting is 4m x25. This means i will have to have joins in the seeting under the floor. not too bad as i have to work around a post in the room so need a joint anyway the question is what is the best way to make the joint?

I would just cut it and overlap any joins by 300mm (I think the regs state a minimum 150mm overlap loose). Use duct tape to join it so it doesn't move around when being concreted.

this was my thought also considered folding the plastic over its self then duck tape.

Overlapped a minimum of 150mm and sealed with a coninuous run of strong double sided tape.

This guide from visqueen shows an additional cover strip but I cant say I have ever actually seen this on site (ocasionaly lapped and taped and then gathered up / folded over and taped again similar to the welted detail)

That's one big room

PS as above lap it and tape it ........ don't forget to go up perimeter walls and to connect with dpc if there is one

Ask at a builders merchant there is a ( cannot for the life of me remember the brand name) tape for the purpose of sealing dpc membranes
