They were covered in bits of crap between all the little cracks and so forth, so boiled a kettle and put the water in the sink, then lobbed my glasses in the hot water for about 20 minutes.

Now, everytime i see light, there's this massive blue haze all around each light, whether its a streetlight, car headlights or whatever.

Wtf have i done to them, how have i managed to destroy my glasses? Wearing them at night is pretty unbearable.

You boiled them.

Is this a trick question? They are glass and plastic or just plastic! Either way, boiling alive is not sensible.

I suspect the coatings have been damaged by the boiling water.

That's pretty unfair.
They should have "liob" and "ton od" engraved on the lenses for precisely this reason.

Yeah, i know it was a retarded thing to do. Is it like an anti-glare coating? Can they be saved?

If anything similar to when I flame-grilled my face, you have knackered the anti-glare coating on them. The heat alters the coating making it do funny things when it should be anti-glaring. In short your lenses are fubar. Do you have any insurance on them? I got mine done on a cheapo Vision Express policy which cost my £19 on the day I took them in. Saved me £300 on new glasses. Re-glazing is also an option. Although it is worth an ask at you optitians, as Mr XL has had some really bad scratches polished out so they may be able to polish off the knackered coating.

300???????

I buy new specs every 6 months online. Never spend more than £40 and often get a second pair half price!

Stick them in boiling water for longer to try and get rid of the coating totally and end up with clear glass.

I understand the suggestion and if the lasses are glass it might work.

But if they are plastic you could end up with two blobs instead of lenses.

I think you have done enough damage buy another pair.
