Old parquet flooring - is it worth anything?

As per the title, I'm replacing some old parquet flooring from the hallway of a typical 30's bungalow and just wondered is there any other way of getting rid of it rather than just throwing it away. There's not a particularly large quantity and it doesn't appear to be really high quality wood.

I'm also replacing the fireplace which is a fairly naff painted over plaster surround with marble hearth.

Would these sorts of things be worth anything to anyone or should it all just go down the tip?

There is a (small) market for reclaimed parquet flooring but you will probably end up having it lying around (needing storing somewhere dry) for ages while you wait for someone to come along who wants it.

I think most people end up advertising it for free if collected, that way it's easier to get rid of it when you want to get rid of it.

Reclaimed parquet has two things going against it. 1) It's an absolute bh to take up. 2) It's an absolute bh to put back down.

I've recently agreed to take a load of someone's hands. I saw how awful a job it was taking it up and I'm thoroughly prepared for it to be equally terrible putting it back down. Hopefully the result will be worth it though!

Try an architectural salvage yard - I believe it can be sold for quite a large amount but I bet they buy it in cheap knowing they have to store it for ages before selling.

Otherwise try Gumtree

I bought about 200sq mt from school this year, i punted the whole lot round reclamtion/salvage yard that i use and the they all wanted to give me £2 a sq mt, one said they would only buy a minimum of 300-400 sq mt upwards!!!

I ended up putting it all on ebay, within a week and sold the lot at £7 per sq mt.

Ebay is your best bet if im honest. Theres not alot of call for Mosaic at the moment

Pitch Pine (herringbone) i can buy from a relcaimation yard for £25-30 a sq mt, new is like rocking horse poop over here at the monent.

Hardwood's (Merbau, Teak) i can buy from roughly £30-35 a st mt, although there is a shortage of certain new exotic woods at the moment.
