I live in a flat very similar to this one below:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/proper...

and want to get some privacy film for the windows downstairs as per photo 3 of 6.

I've had a look on ebay but there are loads available and dont want to spend a load of money to find out they are ste. My windows are basically the same (i.e a large window with a few sub sections). If I do a DIY job and try and cut and fit them myself are they likely to bubble up or anything else?

also ball park cost say per window pane?

Get some of this stuff from B&Q. It's held on by static electricity and they say you can reposition it in case of bubbles etc.

They also do sticky backed film, which is what I was looking for when I went to their site - I applied a fairly big sheet of it to my bathroom window about 10 years ago and it hasn't peeled, discoloured or done anything bad. It's easy enough stuff to apply with a bit of care - only a right donkey could make a real mess of it.

Recently bought and applied the frosted privacy film from this company:

http://www.abodewindowfilms.co.uk/

Have to say it was a doddle to apply and now fully dried out you'd be hard pressed to tell the glass itself wasn't frosted. Cost around £25-30 for a 3m x 0.76m roll. Instructions were very clear. Two bits of advice, make sure your windows are absolutely spotless before you start, any dust specs etc will show up afterwards. Secondly use loads of spray solution (Fairy liquid & water) when applying. This lets the film slip around until your happy with it, then squeegee it out and trim the edges with Stanley blade.

That's about 2-3 times what we paid for self-adhesive stuff on eBay.

You can however get marks though with the s/a if you don't keep pressure constant whilst applying it (peel off gradually and work across the pane using a sponge) and you need to get it right first time...

For the garage the s/a was fine but for a house I'd probably try the stuff Robin mentions.
