Hello helpfull ph people

wondered if u could advise me on what to do next??

Recently moved into a newly converted barn and from the day we moved in we had a couple of radiators not working. The first one in the main bedroom and the towel rail jobby in the en suite.

Didnt think much of it, just thought i'd bleed them thru when i get chance. ....

Fast forward a couple of months after the bloke who originally fitted the system has been out at least three times but still no heating from the radiators! !! (proper cowboy outfit not turning up when arranged, blagging 'er indoors that all working and will be ok etc etc)

Decided fk it! just get another firm in, to be told that the problem is with the installation there is most probably a blockage in the pipework to the bedroom or the rads have been piped up incorrectly??????

Also out of the three firms that we fianally got to come out none of them want to get involved! ! Understandably and have all said it should be warrantied to the original installer!!!

And therein lies the problem he wont return our calls and is obviously just waiting for us to go away

other than popping over to where he resides and smashing his back doors in with a prickly stick!! What is the best cause of action guys? ????

This bloke wont even give me his gas safe no' and have no paperwork to follow up on....

Cheers

Talk to your local council. They should have a trading standards officer that can take up the case.

his GasSafe details will be on the GasSafe website - you can search by name/locality.

I'm not a plumber - the OP wants the guy's GasSafe details - that's how you find them... and?

Can you do a bit of detective work yourself? With the heating on (and water circulating!) can you establish which pipes are hot and which aren't? Maybe the idiot has connected both sides of a rad to the same pipe, or put a thermostatic valve on the wrong end of a rad (some don't like reverse flow but usually complain by 'buzzing'). Could be that the thermostatic valve itself is a 'dud'. The cap can be safely removed from the pipe by loosening the clamping screw underneath. It won't flood the house and will allow water to flow into the rad if there is any there.

If you can find out where (and maybe what) the problem is you might get it sorted out sooner than later.

You could always obtain a guestimate from another company - and take the installer to small claims.

Sounds like at least a thousand pound fix to me. Installer either turns up and probably loses, or doesn't and definitely loses.

That may be true but if this muppet cant fit a radiator correctly i would be wondering how well hes fitted the boiler.
