Set up buildings and contents with Natwest in March as they were beating all other quotes. Checked my statement last night and no monies have gone out. Got the certificate though.

Went into branch to pay credit card and enquired about not having a DD set up and they informed me I was not insured due to a clericle error on their part!

Now all sorted at an absolutely blinding deal, but what would of happened does not bare thinking about...

Also sweetened with a better loan rate, box of chocolates, bottle of wine and a kiddies piggy bank and teddy.

Had a similar thing when buying a used car. I arranged the cover by phone at the seller's house, paying by CC - but when I got home found a message saying there was a mistake and I wasn't covered.

That would have been interesting if ANPR vans had been around in those days... I had bought and paid for insurance in good faith but wasn't covered.

Know somebody whose living room ceiling came down ruining decor, carpet & furnishings in the process, it was only afterwards his insurance company revealed he was un-insured as they hadn't collected his premiums...

In think you would be covered in the event of an accident.

Unless you had committed dishonesty in the application the insurance companies will generally meet such claims. Clearly you acted in good faith.

However this is a lesson for us all.

I check my car as insured online when I renew policies. It is worth the effort.
