Check your meter readings....
Discussion
Back in July I switched gas/electricity suppliers. SWALEC supplied EDF with a final meter reading (supposedly taken by a meter reader) in July of 3575 which I've since found out is around 240 units OVER my current reading taken last week (3337). Back-calculating shows that it should probably have been closer to 3220 in July.
According to SWALEC they owe me around £130 for over-charging on the gas! So it's worth checking your meter readings yourself; I've never done the gas one - I didn't even know where it was located - but it's clear that expensive mistakes are easily made.

Check water meters too, if there is a leak, you are liable.
The HA I work for recently had bill sent in by a resident for £14,000!!! This was due to them not reporting a leak.
Turns out the supply was on a high pressure system and had not been reduced when the properties were built hence the leak was gushing out.
Water board admitted it was their fault in the end.
