Clear, pourable acrylic
Discussion
I'm going to be building a bar on my new patio once I've finished laying it and I want to make my own work surface for it. The plan is to use a load of my old CD's, lay them in a random pattern on a external ply base with a ~2cm lip around the outside and then pour in some clear acrylic to give it a tough, weatherproof surface.
I'm struggling to find any pourable acrylic though. Does anyone know of anywhere online to get it, or is there a more suitable material that I could use?

I remember doing small moulds with this at school back in the early 80's, you must post Pic's when you are finished
It's going to be a while as I've only just started laying the slabs and it's 40sqm! I'm doing photo's all the way through this time (always mean to do that!) so I'll post them up with the new bar once it's done!
Thanks for the ideas, they look ideal. Didn't know that epoxy turned yellow, good advice!

that sounds like a awesome idea!
throw a few vinyls in there too!
Ha ha! I've just been on eBay looking at some, but I don't really want to shell out too much on it. I've got almost 3000 CD's at home that are all now stored on 2 hard drives and they're taking up loads of room (that she wants for her make up, I might add!), thought it might be a nice way to give them a second lease of life!throw a few vinyls in there too!

Went to a micro brewery/European beer pub in the US last month and their bar was made of a concrete top (or similar) with bottle caps pushed into it and then covered in resin. Looked awesome.
I planned to do something similar to the side of a bath about 10 years ago, shells and star fish on a sand base and covered with resin. Managed the first half....
