Washing machine - Saturday delivery?
Discussion
Where can I get the above. Been f
ked about by Argos.
All I want is someone I can buy it from who will deliver the new one on the weekend, take the other away and connect the new one. What shop offers this? I've looked and it seems a hard task to do...
I've thought about moving it myself, but although I could get this one out from the first floor I doubt I'd get one up the stairs as its easily 80kg...

True, but their range seems to start £75 above everywhere else! It's the landlords cash so he's given strict limits.
£350 for washer dryer. £250 for just washer
Regrettably, it seems you have a landlord who is best used to unlock pastry products, however : http://www.johnlewis.com/231292597/Product.aspx is bang in the middle of the online prices for that model and just within your benefactor's generous budget £350 for washer dryer. £250 for just washer

Looking good.
I see no mention of connection and removal of old machine...
But then I am on the mobile site... Is this
Something they do?

£9 to remove old
Details here : http://www.johnlewis.com/Help/Help.aspx?helpid=57
Connection is trivial though - three hoses at most (usually only two with modern machines) and an electrical plug.
MTFU!

Good.
Only issue might be convincing him that the one £50 less on Argos wasn't possible to actually get. The JL delivery slots are great!
Yeh I don't mind connecting it, just want shot of the old one. I've lifted it up some stairs already and feel like I've been to the gym.
Why not tell the landlord to organise it all himself?Only issue might be convincing him that the one £50 less on Argos wasn't possible to actually get. The JL delivery slots are great!

I had the same issue when the fridge blew up, it was either wait a week for the landlord to sort it or just arrange it myself and deduct from the rent ..
If you are NW London then there is an independent shop in Ruislip who do good pricing on white goods including delivery/collection - some of it is "seconds" kit, scatches on the non-visible areas, etc, but all with warranty. Ruislip Applicances it's called.

Another vote for John Lewis.
When our drier packed up I took the truck down to Currys (Yiewsley), to buy another. Didn't even need them to deliver / install. Zero product knowledge, ended up having to find everything out for myself which involved pulling half the display shelving apart to open the condenser reservoir doors to see how big they were and how they emptied.
Had to use 3G / iPhone whilst in store to compensate for lack of staff knowledge.
Got the drier home only to find it had a bloody great dent in the side!
Took it back, got a load of abuse off the staff for suggesting they had no knowledge and trundled off to John Lewis in High Wycombe. What a contrast. Great product knowledge, no dearer than Currys due to the improved guarantee, delivered on time by 2 very polite chaps who took packaging away, I'd already dumped the old unit at Currys
I don't think you can beat them. You can even have a coffee and a sticky bun in the JL cafe.

We bought a fridge/freezer from appliancesonline a few months back. Pretty good service, cheaper than most and turned up when they said they would. They take away all packaging, and will take the old unit for £10 I think it was. You can pay extra for a specific time slot, although if you don't they will tell you a two hour time frame when the delivery will come. Only annoying thing is they phone you up trying to sell you insurance a few days later.John Lewis are also good.
