Morning folks,

As i write this i've got a plumber upstairs fixing 2 leaks, and while he's doing that my downstairs lights have just gone pop, (Great Times), I changed the fuse, tried again and as soon as i turned the downstairs lounge lights on...Pop!, the kitchen ones come on fine which are on the same circuit. So this leads me to believe i have an earth on the lounge lights/switch. How much would i be 'roughly' looking at for an electrician to find the earth and rectify??

Another job i may ask him/her when they respond to my rated people request is how much i'm going to be looking at to change my fuse panel under the stairs to a circuit breaker..Currently its the old fuse wire type thing. Anyone know rough prices for that also??

Cheers in Advance

Sounds to me like the plumber has got something wet. The cost for an electrician obviously depends on how long it takes.

Reg the fuseboard change, £250-£350 depending upon size. If you are in London probably more.

HTH.

If you're not happy with the fuse wire, just replace the plug in part with these:

Update....

Electrician been and gone...£50 lighter for 2 hours work + 1 new hole in the wall.
It was caused by a certain Female AKA the Missus who decided she wanted a plaque 'welcome home' ste thing in the porch 3 weeks ago,
i had no say as it was done before i got home from work,
she put a nail straight through the power cable earthing out the Blue which feeds the lounge. SO this nail has probably been live for 3 weeks or so. I now have a newly plastered hole in the wall.
He's going to send me a quote via email on prices etc, so i'll let you you know the prices,
(I'm not in london, i is in Hampshire near Fareham)

Off to give the missus a debrief!
