Can i advertise a business from the roof of my house?

Well basically the railway banking is at the bottom of my garden and the tracks are level with my house roof. There are lights outside my house so trains stop Very regular. I live about 5mins walk(down the track(never done it) from wakefield westgate station and its on the east coast line to kings cross london.

I was annoyed that the trains stop and all the people seem to gawp at my house and garden/cars etc. i've lived here since birth and have bought my mother out so its always been the same. But now i am starting to think maybe i can make this work for me? as i have absolutley no chance of moving the tracks.

What are the laws regarding this as i have never seen anything like it before?
Planning?
maintenance?
changing the ads?
selling the ad space?
i am tipping i would need an advertising company of some sort to act on my behalf ?

A lad i was at school with lived on a main road and they had a massive billboard on the side of there house as i recall they got paid pretty well.

I would. Going rate for billboards near me is 20 odd a week.

You do need planning. Not sure on any of the details.

Hence why you see 'parked trailers' carrying adverts them in farmer's fields along the motorways, as they don't require it.

a google shows a guy in the us selling space on ebay but it was back in 2005
