So - after 2.5 years of being with our current utility company and spending the last 6 months arguing about our outrageous gas bills, trying to get them to acknowledge there was a big problem, today they have finally put right the problem and agreed that we are owed a credit of £5100 FFS!!! (not a typo).

Now I am not one for ever going for compensation, until today that is, what do you think is a good/acceptable number to go for to at least try and make me feel better for the stress, the endless phoncalls, the having to explain everything over and over again, the failed call backs and . . . . . errrrrrr .......... THE FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS IN OVER BILLING LOL

Interest at 8% on the sum and possibly a £200 compensation payment.....unless you can prove that by being deprived of the money you have incurred additional costs, i.e. late payment charges, OD charges.

How much are you going to compensate your fellow PHers for posting on the wrong forum?

I apologise, its been a long day.

Did you spend money on legal fees when trying to sort out the issue. IE, did you get a solicitor?

A complete balls up when we moved to them = no gas billing for 12 months, then 3 BIG payments demanded, followed by steadily increasing bills for 12 months, growing quicker at the end, then after months of questions and arguing that something must be wrong, they realised that they were billing us for the wrong type of meter - imperial instead of metric FGS!!

Once pinpointed its taken them over 2 months to get to a figure!

One cannot stop paying ones gas bill, whoever is to blame.

Quick edit your post with some car content!*

Wasn't S******h P****r was it? I was with them for a total of 12 months, but has taken a further 18 months to sort out the mess they caused me!

Even now I get calls from them with incentives to sign up..again. Idiots.

They will give you whatever interest/compensation is in their 'customer charter'/small print. Anything else would need legal action which isn't worth it IMHO.

Well then you can't be claiming that back.

If you are really keen on compensation, go speak to a no win no fee lawyer, and he'll come up with something.

I wouldn't, mind. I don't like the compensation culture.

I dont like the compensation culture either, but they have been so st at dealing with this PLUS its FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS - I do feel that they owe me something for being totally SPTMF's with my money!
