The hot water header tank was installed on the top floor of my house and not in the attic. We've now put a bathroom on the top floor and as you'd expect the hot water doesn't flow (being above the highest point in the tank).

We could put the tank in the attic, plenty of space but is there an easy way? Is there a clever pump that somehow turns on when the shower or tap is turned on (no flow remember) or is it the best bet just to move the tank.

Either way I'll end up with some sort of pump to get decent hot water pressure, but it would be great to solve both problems in one solution.

Thanks chaps

Yes you can get a negative head pump or a negative head kit for a pump, quite expensive though. Follow the plumbing diagrams enclosed - I think you need a gravity loop in it or something. You can download the pump instruction book from Salamander website which you can get an idea from.

Edited to add, looking at the following link you should be OK with a normal pump if your cold tank is at the correct level:

Our pump automatically switches on when you open the shower tap (positive head).
