Memory Foam Mattress
Discussion
If you get one make sure that you get one with a "cool" cover (cannot remember the proper name but it makes the world of difference).
My partner had one when we first met at her parents and whenever we stayed i would wake up feeling sick and seriously overheating which put me off them for a longtime but we bought a slightly cheaper make with a cool cover and it is fantastic with no more back pain or overheating.
go try some

I had a memory foam mattress. I felt like I was embedded into it and it was hot in the summer. I also found it more difficult to roll over and my wife got sore elbows.
I went for a properly sprung bed and that's really good. Maybe the upper end memory foam mattresses are better but they're very expensive.

I 100% agree with the heat comments, they do tend to keep you hot all the time, the cool covers work to a extent but you tend to still stay warm. oh andas for the memory foam pillows just don't unless you want to wake up with one side of your face covered in sweat and a general uncomfortable feeling.
I suffer with back problems have for years. I bought a 3" topper to put on top of my mattress, after a couple of weeks my back & most joints were aching way more than with my mattress on its own.
I now have my topper under my mattress between the bed base this makes my bed more comfortable now as the original mattress has more 'give' in it that without. Hey ho

We went for a kaymed gel mattress. Its a sprung matress, with a memory foam/gel top. Cool and comfortable (cost 1k just for the mattress!)
Definately buy from a reputable manufacturer. and above all else try any mattress in a shop before you buy. We tried loads before we settled on the kaymed.
Also look to spend the same sort of money on a bed, as you would on a sofa. If you bought a £299 sofa from argos you would expect it to be crap. Sames goes for a mattress.
