Hi guys

I have started getting some weeds growing through my bricked driveway between the bricks.

I am looking to buy the below weedkiller and wanted to ask if its fine to use on hard surfaces / are there better ones out there that I should buy instead?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roundup-Action-Litre-Ready...

Thank!

It will kill the ones that are there but isn't residual, so new weeds can still grow. Look for a 'path and drive' product if this is important.

I used Weedol rootkill plus i thought it didn`t work first of all, then a week or two later the lot died and nothing has grown back since and that was a couple of months ago, however no matter what, weeds will grow back eventually

I just use bleach and salt for the driveway. Mix it up about 50:50 with water in a garden sprayer. It works really well on everything but grass.

Just spent a couple of hours last week power washing (on medium pressure) all the weeds and moss out of my (large) block paved driveway, then refilled any gaps with a bag of Wickes kiln dried block paving sand......(£4.25)

Now looks like brand new.

Tried Weedkiller in the past, (Pathclear, Roundup etc) works fine, but you still have to get rid of the dead weeds.

There was a good thread on here no so long ago with someone asking for something 'nuclear' to clear weeds.
Good thread detailing the differences between weedkillers.

Might be of some help?

Have given up with the weedkiller and gone for the power wash option

its all the dirt that builds up over the years in the gaps, that gives the weeds something to grow in....so if you keep it swept and dirt buildup low, you dont get them

The weeds are not growing through your block paving (unless it's a tree or japanese knotweed), they are germinating and growing from the surface downwards.

Weedkiller early in season, (bleach works well too), and again around now. Be careful if there is grass alongside the paving as the rain will wash residue off and this will then kill the grass.

Got some proper farmer strength glycosulphate from ebay last year...the stuff works! (Ivy takes far longer to die/isn't as affected!)

I bought this:- 5 Litres Rosate 36 Very Strong Glyphosate Weedkiller.

Stick it in the search bar on ebay. 5 litres will last a fair few years so worth buying in bulk.

It does the job just fine. I put it on the drive every 6 weeks or so using a garden sprayer and my drive and patio is completely weed free this year.

You sort of need to be proactive with it though as once the weeds are grown whilst they do die after a few days they don't break down and disappear for a few weeks.

Ammonium Sulphamate - it's the daddy. Just don't buy Ammonium Sulphate as it has the opposite effect (my mistake was spotted before I applied it!).

Apparently white vinegar is a good weed killer. I haven't tried it myself, but I plan to.

Sticks.

Mix it with diesel for ivy so it penetrates the leaves. Still not quick.

I'm told sweeping salt into a brick drive helps prevent weeds, but I suspect whatever you do will need regular repetition.

There's no such thing as glycosulphate. If you're going to buy professional strength pesticides mail order from eBay do at least try to get the active ingredients right.

Correcting the mistake may have been more helpful ?
