I have CAME gates - they were here when I bought the place (everything crossed) they have been very reliable except when a slug crawled into the control box and fried itself on the circuit board (hardly a manufacturing defect).

Edit - forgot to say I have been here 7 and a bit years

We had NICE at the last place. Hated the bd things.

Ours did not like a double wooden gate, which to be fair did catch the wind. Far too many cold winter nights lying on the ground trying to get both gates to open.

I've got a Nice Toona kit. Single leaf 5 bar with Cisa Electric lock. Mated to a Farfisa intercom. Works just fine.

Our will have issues in gales and sometimes when its icy but provided they are set up correctly they should be fine on a normal windy day

We have the NICE ones already here when we moved in 5 years ago. Never had a problem apart from a power cut there appears to be no manual override which is a bit crap. Also if it's snowed you have to clear the swept path they take or they won't open.

If you want a impartial opinion, just pm me.

The company I work for was the first company to import Came product and install in the UK.
We mainly now use Nice equipment for sale onward or installation.
We also work with BFT, FAAC and others.

The ones mentioned are the main players without going to specialist market or lesser makes which are not as good.

Its personal preference between Nice and Came. The are both trying to outdo each other, with Nice being a newer more technical responsive company.
Came has a solid base and grounding in the UK due to being one of the earliest products to appear commercially in the UK.

Just please be aware of trying to fit these yourselves due to setup and safety issues. Stiffer regulations are slowly coming into force from the HSE on fitting these onto gates. (This is due to at least 3 children being killed by ill fitted or poorly maintained gates in the past 5 years)

If you get your gates regularly maintained just make sure you have them force tested every year. Some installers will tell you, you don't need it.......but if there is an accident involving your gate and you don't have it, prepare for jail or hefty fine.

We had "Nice" under ground electric openers on 2 very heavy metal gates for circa 10 years at last house with no problems at all.
