Removing engine oil stain from driveway?

Hi all,

I just finished giving my wife's car an oil and filter change (1st time doing this). Some of the oil missed the oil pan (yes the 1st half second after taking the sump plug out!) and have a dinner plate sized stain on a tarmac drive.

Any tips for removing this? I have scrubbed at it with lots of soapy water and a wire brush - also tried some orange citrus car wash. Seems stubborn to shift!

Been there done that.
The good lady demoted me seriously until I sorted it.
A splash of petrol and pressure washer. ( I assume concrete or paviors and not asphalt as petrol will leave a hole ! )

yes it is asphalt! so no petrol then? I do have can in the shed. I also have a power washer.

Googled fullers earth thanks for the suggestion. Would rather not have to buy a product to fix this. It's a matter of pride you see. "Yes of course I can service your car! No of course I won't make a mess! Do you think I'm an idiot? Don't answer that."

Washing powder - yes have just checked the utility room and in front of a white cube that was making a whirring noise (I've never asked her what it is) there was a box of "Daz" whatever that is. Might discreetly give that a try.

I used sainsbury's basics cat litter to very effectively remove oils stains from my concrete garage floor. and it cost about £1.50

It wasn't very effective on my tarmac driveway unfortunately, it could be worth a try if the oil is quite fresh though. Rub it in with your foot and leave for half an hour or so. Then sweep up and wash the mess away with washing up liquid.

Well aside from the oil issue it would be worth £1.80 to see her face if she thought I'd gone and bought a cat!

Good old washing up liquid. Apply and scrub, wash off. Repeat if required.

I even had an industrial cleaning company try to no avail.
