Just wondering if anyone has any preference on radiator supplier / brand?

Used Purmo before which I'm happy with and are made in the UK I think

Are they all much the same or any to avoid?

Price is important but has to be decent quality

Tips on valves etc also appreciated

When we had our extension done the builder used Delonghi radiators form City Plumbing http://www.cityplumbing.co.uk/searchHierarchy?lowe...

Hard to say if they are any better or worse than the competitors but they look nice enough and since then I've replaced a few other radiators around the house and stuck with this brand. Chuck out a decent amount of heat anyway.

We also had Delonghi rads installed throughout the whole house as part of our referbishment, they looked good, felt solid and gave off heat, what more could you want?

When I used to be connected with the trade we would use either Stelrad or Kermi radiators.

Both were mostly trouble free and we installed thousands of them.

Purmo, can't go wrong really. I was under the impression that stelrad were aimed squarely at the contract market?

They are much the same - the only thing to look for is that some have welds visible on the face (a series of circles) which are unseen in some lights but very visible in others

My main gripe with Stelrad is the inadequate packaging, got fed up with rads coming out of the wrappers with dented panels and grills.

Screwfix's brand (kudox I think), seem to be pretty good. Well packaged too, in a cardboard box with corner protectors.

I've bought a lot of radiators from here recently http://www.mrcentralheating.co.uk/ - cheaper than screwfix, and no issues with quality.

I use stelrad a lot, good products, well made and not silly prices. Failing that I would look at Kermi.

I would agree with you, but having just had 7 rads from them very recently, I can say that I've had 3 with dented end or top panels. You can get the end panels direct from Kudox, but if the top panel is damaged, you have to get another rad. In the end I had to take a rad back for a different size, so it meant I could exchange easy enough, and the amount of Screwfix stores made this easy at least.

Very happy with the way they fitted and heat etc from there though

Blimey they're cheap!!

Screwfix was the best price I could find at £45 for a double 600 by 600 but that link gives a price of £32 - postage very reasonable too...

Danfoss TRVs are very good in my experience, and not all that pricey.
