Noticed this yesterday but there didn't seem to be much in the way of info regarding it (nor any staff of any intelligence to question), has anyone here got any experience?

Doesn't seem to be much info out there on the net either?

I think it's actually LightwaveRF kit. No idea why they brand it Siemens.

From the little I can find out I think Siemens have licensed the LightwaveRF technology and are doing their own cheaper thing with it.

Thanks for the move to homes and gardens mods. Anyone in here know any more about this?

Ive got quite a lot of this stuff. It works best when coupled with the "Link" wifi unit and smart phones.

You can setup timers etc.... setup lights to come on at certain times before or after sunrise or sunset.

Its not 100% reliable.... but certainly 95+%

Is the wifi link completely necessary or does it just get you the automated features?

Not necessary... but makes the whole use of the devices better. Depends how many devices you want to control. If its a couple of things then the remotes that you can buy (some kits come with remotes) will work fine.

I'm thinking of a couple of dimmers and a socket to be controlled by my home cinema universal remote, not much more. Ie, have the remote fire the signal to dim the lights, switch in the projector and close the blinds with a one touch set up, if the remotes for the Siemens stuff can be done by the Logitech that is.

Might add in the wifi at a later date if I feel it necessary.

Do you have any links to any more info about the system? There's nothing in my local B&Q, in fact it looks as though they're running down the stock and precious little on Siemens website from what I can see?

As someone above noted, it's LightwaveRF stuff (http://lightwaverf.com/).

I have a bit of it in my home - due to abject laziness and not wanting to manually turn off main lights plus 3x std lamps in my living room, and similar in the bedroom. I have 3x wall dimmers and 5x plug in sockets at present.

It's a doddle to install (generally) and works really well.

I don't have the wifi link as yet, but may well add it to provide security lighting etc.

At the price point I'd recommend it, but product supply can be patchy. I think as a result of the original designers selling the rights on etc.

Indeed we do, I'm guessing they stock the LightwaveRF branded stuff, I wonder if it's all compatible? Strangely the Siemens branded stuff is cheaper confused

Thanks for all the help smile do you use any of the remote controls? I was wondering how they stack up over multiple switches etc? Each remote looks only do 4 dimmers, can they also control the sockets or do you also need a socket controller for that?

Also, I see the main function touted for the lights is the dimming function, I take it you can simply use them as on/off switches in case any lights have non-dimming LEDs in them?

As others have said it's all the same.

The B&Q's around my way have been getting rid of stuff at very low prices over the last few months and not restocking so I've been around 3 stores and got quite a few bits and bobs. However some stuff like the 2/3/4 way light switches they haven't reduced but at the same time they haven't restocked anything so I'm hoping they will eventually start reducing as presumably not many people actually know what they are.

Not sure if it means B&Q are going to stop selling the stuff though once they run out of stock.
