Hoping someone will have answers or tips for this as it's driving me mad...

Bought this shower
http://www.bristan.com/epages/Bristan.sf/en_GB/?Ob...

It works perfectly fine but when it's turned off it drips constantly. About once a second. I've checked all the connections and they are tight. No water leaks from anywhere.

If I turn the hot water shut off valve off, it stops dripping. Turn it back on and it starts again.

With both the hot and cold turned on and it dripping, if the toilet is flushed then the dripping gets faster.

It's driving me mad, only had the thing for 3 days and all I can hear is drip drip drip...

Any ideas? Besides taking it back of course. I've contacted the company and I'm still awaiting their response.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the cartridge isn't seating properly. Did you lake triple sure there were no bits in the pipes before you fitted it?

The water pressure is running at 3 bar constant, I could turn it down to 2 to see how that helps?

The pipework was all new, definitely nothing in there and I made sure the filters were in place before I connected the hot and cold.

I can turn it up to 5 bar but only run it at 3.

Turned it down to 2 bar and I still have the problem. Turn the hot water off and the dripping stops, back on and it starts. Very annoying.

Checked every connection last night and they are all sealed and fine. Filters and NRVs in place. I'm at a loss now. Bristan are no help at all

Normally Bristan's after sales backup is very good, so it's surprising to hear that they're no help.

It'll be a fault with the flow control valve inside the unit not fully sealing, either a manufacturing issue or from damage by debris/flux from the new pipework if it wasn't flushed out properly before connecting to the unit (see warning on page 3 of the installation instructions).

As it's under guarantee I'd call Bristan again and get them to send out one of their BristanCare engineers.

I'll try bristan again, I've been communicating via email but I think I'll just ring them.

All the pipework is JG speedfit so there was no flux involved, the whole upstairs was replaced and flushed through before fitting, when it was connected up the filters were in place.

It does sound unlikely to be anything other than a manufacturing fault then, which at least means it'll get fixed FOC. I've had similar problems with other digital showers - one Mira shower in particular was a real Friday afternoon build that ended up with most of its internals including the flow control valve replaced under guarantee within the first month.

Thanks for the advice. It appears that the shower unit is fairly new so Bristan were keen to get it back for fault finding. New unit arriving Monday but they are sending the engineer on the 9th Feb. So I have to leave it for the engineer, which is a shame as I'd normally just change it over myself.

It was a faulty solenoid. Replaced the entire unit. No more dripping. Better.

Thanks all smile
