saw an advert for this yesterday, by all accounts not a bad product, but apparently given the thumbs up by mumsnet!

oh so that nest of vipers give it the thumbs up, never buy another paint then smile

i can't believe they thought this was a good idea at the ad agency / marketing dept!

We painted one of the bedrooms in it, a purple colour called Berry Jam - not my cup of tea tbh but she likes it. The paint seemed of decent quality and the finish looks fine enough to my untrained eye.

Or as good as it is ever going to get with it being me that applied it, that is hehe

Mumsnet, meh.

Have used it a couple of times (both emulsion and gloss).

It does dry to exactly the colour of the sample card. Seems good quality to me, although their coverage figures are a tad optimistic i think.

Its all mixed to order.

I didn't like the gloss I used on my front door actually - I found it dried/skinned a bit too quickly and I ended up with quite a few drag marks in the paint (the casual observer wouldn't notice, tbh, but as with all things DIY they are the only thing I can see when i look at the door.)

I've used it for my bathroom and as others have said, results were very good. Quite impressed.

I used their white gloss satin and it yellowed within months. The other colours are fine imp.

Isn't that due to the water-based formulation everyone is stuck with these days?

Valspar brand seems to have been around since the dawn of time.

(Bloody auto-correct. Valparaiso is NOT the same as Valspar frown )

Good advertising really, women can now go to B&Q without their partners and spend lots of money on paint that they know will be good as it is recommended on Mumsnet. Their partners will not be there to tell them not to buy it or tell them to buy a cheaper brand.

I'd have expected mumsnet to harp on about VOC free paints like earthborn (clay-based, expensive but leaves a very nice finish).

Just need to be careful which 'beaker' you use to rinse the brushes out.

Yes I guess your right, one day perhaps one of the paint manufacturers will come along with a white paint that stays white for longer than a few months.

In the 90's Crown actually did bring out a non-yellowing gloss white. I used it and it was excellent. Strangely enough when I went to buy more a year or two later I couldn't find it anywhere and haven't seen it since. I wonder why that was?

Only ever used their premium version, great results although budget for covering 1/3 of what they say it will...

One of my customers gave me a tin to use on a feature wall.
Wasn't expecting much, but in all honesty it's not bad stuff.
Don't know how much it costs compared to good trade stuff though.

Haven't used white but have used a few of their mixed colours, most impressive thing is that over a year later I have been able to touch up areas and the new blends perfectly with the old.
