Why do people ask different questions when buying a car over a house?

Imagine if a house buyer asked the following?

So, has it got original paintwork? It's been decorated. Ah, ok I'm not interested as its not original.

How many owners has it had? It's had 7. Ah, sorry, too many owners for me.

Have you all the receipts for the work done? No, sorry I just paid the decorator and plumber cash. Ah, sorry I don't want it.

How long have you owned it?

Is there finance outstanding?

Has it ever had any major repairs or accidents?

Is the boiler the original boiler? I'm sorry, I don't know. Would you mind if I check the stamp on the boiler to see if this is a numbers matching house?!

What's your reason for selling?

Any more questions car buyers ask but house buyers don't typically ask?

I'll not pay your asking price, I'll offer 10% less.
People just pay (or even pay more than) the asking price for houses!

Lol. Could you take an up close picture of the left hand side of the stair carpet as I want to see how much wear there is?

Could you send me a photo of all the bills and receipts you have amassed for your home over the years?

I am looking at another one exactly the same but it's cheaper.

Nah mate you will struggle to sell that model. Tell you what I will do you a favour and give you £xxxxx to take it off your hands.

Were the new windows fitted by the OE house builder or by Safestyle?

It's a fair question. House buying is far too slow, complex and expensive. That said I suppose you could, if the seller was agreeable, just roll up with £300K in used notes and come away with some keys and handwritten receipt on a bit of A4...!

The vast majority will sell for less than the asking.

It's rare to pay more.

In England.. Yes.

In Scotland... You can easily - sell and move out into the new abode within a few weeks.

The English system is bloody dreadful.

At least the English system encourages people to join in debt-fueled hysteria that buggers up the entire economy ... hang on ... uhm ...

To be honest, buying a house in England is a pain and I wish it was a bit more like buying a car.

View house, get survey, hand over dosh and get deeds in return. Job jobbed.

Have my house up for sale at the moment, I think we have had more day trippers visit than Euro Disney!

Had an offer today via the estate agent, after a couple came and looked at it twice this week.

It's basically like brand new throughout, so does not need a penny spent on it, no haggling options at all therefore, ie such as needs decent bathroom etc

Anyway they offer £85K less than the asking price, and it turns out they have not even put there own house up for sale yet! and theirs is worth about half the value of ours, so where is the balance coming from?

Hmmmm let me sleep on it....not

I've had that a few times. One couple even informed me that not only was their house not on the open market but they were half way through building an extension , fking time wasters .
The sooner it goes the french way and it's ten per cent down on genuine offer the better . Ten day cooling off then your committed
