So.
I am starting to raise my patio to the DPC level
Using the following guide (the one on the left) i will be creating a channel to ensure water doesnt splash above the DPC

http://www.pavingexpert.com/dpc01.htm

Currently, a rough couple of photos, my patio looks like this

I have got myself a pallet of fenlite blocks and i think i have 2 options for the retaining channel threshold wall. I either:
Dig out 150mm foundation + the depth of 2 fenlites (lots of concrete and waste materials to dig, break out in order to dig foundations
OR
using wood to board out the foundations and fill with cement to within 1 Fenlite block to the DPC, this mean i then only lay 1 fenlight to create the channel wall

But i am not sure which method will be the best for me

My MS paint might be easier to explain

This is what i would like to achieve

Thanks

Splash is only a problem for walls not doors/windows.

Rather than creating the channel, why nor simply place a vertical DPM on the outer leaf of the external wall, which would prevent the transmission of moisture from the earth beneath the raised patio to the elevation wall?

Would it not make sense to square the patio off to give you a much more usable area for dining/hot tub etc rather than a wide path round the edge?

That wouldn't prevent splashing.

It wouldn't, but how much water ingress can occur via a cavity wall through splashing on the external face?

It's a building control requirement.

Thanks for the replies chaps

Squaring the patio off is a no goer as I don't get any sun there.

The channel does comply with building regs. This weekend I will be clearing the hardcore away from the walls and hopefully start mixing some concrete.

This could my patio build thread

Could you chemical inject a second doc 150 above the patio? Prob cheaper and would be a cleaner look?

I know it is but the question still stands.
