My dad passed away at Christmas, he was a great dad and a very practical man always making things. One of the things that I had great pleasure from was a pedal kart that he made me. It was wood and steel with bike wheels, brakes and proper steering. Seriouslu even engineered in practical dad style.
Now, my kids are 6 and nearly 5 and I'd like to build something similar especially as I have two old kids bikes sitting around I can scavenge for parts.
I'm not a total muppet practically but I'm not my dad.
There are loads of designs and plans about but they seem to fall into the elaborate (miniature Bugatti T35 type replicas) or simple push kart with rope steering. I want it to use bike wheels, pedals a proper steering system and not too large (fit through a standard gate/doorway).

Anyone done this and any recommendations?

really know nothing about this, but many years ago, tried one where the whole front axle "steered" from a fixed hinge in the middle... rope stylee. Totally undrivable for me. avoid and do the proper steering thing.
