Is there a way of padding out a cot without using a bumper?

My little one has taken to having tantrums and banging her head against the cot headboard when she doesn't get her own way and isn't taken out of there. We did have cot bumpers fitted, but she ended up climbing out of the cot using the bumper as a ladder. I'd like to pad the headboard to stop her from hurting herself but with something that she won't be able to climb. Any ideas?

Is it slatted or a solid sheet?

If slatted would something like foam pipe insulation suffice?

It's a solid sheet. I want something that little one won't poison herself by licking or chewing it.

We have exactly the same going on at the moment and again solid headboard with bumpers removed [although ours were removed because she had one wrapped around her neck]

I just let her get on with it.

Let the littlle'un have the tantrum, just as long as she is not hurting herself, which is very unlikely. Give in to the tantrums and things will get worse.

+1 let the tantrum continue, just make sure you don't react to it.........or try a crash helmet

Could you put foam then vinyl on the headboard; so it ends up padded like a motorbike seat?

we never had them because there is a fear they can get wrapped up in them and choke. she can only hurt herself so much and should learn it hurts, if that makes sense ?
