Hi all,

Is anyone running the above setup at all, that might be able to offer a novice some assistance?

I have the ivMS 4500 app on my phone to view the camera feeds remotely. It works when I am in the house but not when I am not. Having looked it up it seems I need to setup port forwarding. I have accessed the router and forwarded the ports that I read I am meant to; 80, 554, 8000. When I go to canyouseeme.org it confirms that those ports are indeed open, however I still can not access the cameras via the app when I am away from my home wifi network. Presumably I have missed something pretty simple (hopefully!), I would be most grateful if anyone can help smile

Does the app require the public IP address in the settings? This will be the IP address BT give the Hub.

You'll probably need both:

Port Forwarding. (sounds like you have this cracked)
A Dynamic DNS hostname.

I use no-ip.org. Won't bore you with guides, the internet is full of them. smile

i have the same issue on talktalk and hikvision. I can view it using hikvision ddns on my laptop using 4g but not on my phone using 4g. It works on on the wireless network that the whole setup is on as well.

Thanks chaps, had totally overlooked the dynamic DNS lark. Which I have now done without fully understanding what I have done smile

HIKVISION provide their own which is good, pretty easy to set up with the help of a guide online which made it clear. If only their instructions were as simple to follow, always seems odd that the internet provides a better resource than the manufacturers own literature.

Anyway, thanks for the point in the right direction!

Cheers.

Did you manage to sort in the end? Mine kind of works but is a bit temperamental. As for the motion detection email.....have dropped the sensitivity down and had 6500 emails in 4 days!

With HIKVision you shouldn't need to mess with the router at all. Just set it up on the DDNS page of the HIKVision itself. You then enter your url as something like www.hik-online.com/YourName and it redirects through.

HIKVision are pretty uniquue in that respect and it makes set up a doddle.

One other tip, when setting up your domain, if it says device not found or something like that it means by chance you've used a domain already in use. It doesn't warn you (or at least it doesn't on cameras).

Also type your domain in lower case - no capitals as that throws things.
