Ongoing rodent issue.

Overview is that we are an end terrace (6 houses) and occasionally have a rat or 2 in the loft. I'm hoping they are living in someone elses loft and coming through to ours to investigate but I can't find any gaps in the wall between us and the neighbours.

They have not made it into the house yet but I'm sure that I heard something in the lounge wall (external) 2 days ago - nothing since.

I have checked around the outside of the house and cannot find any entry points but there is a manhole a few metres away from where I think the noise came from.

Is there any way that the rat could get into the cavity wall from the sewer or is it more likely they have got into it from the loft? There are a couple of bricks missing on the external wall in the loft and it has white beads in it - assume this is cavity wall insulation?

Thanks
