Repairs to a shared internal soil stack?

Can anyone shed any light on who would be responsible for repairs to a shared internal soil stack with our neighbour,soil stack runs down corner of their kitchen,our property has pipes joining the stack through concrete wall,all pipe work joining stack is inside their property.Recently a pipe leading from our house (kitchen sink drain) to soil stack split on their side within the footprint of their house,they have said as it is our pipe it is our job to fix it does anyone know if this is correct can't find answer anywhere else.

Idiotic design - what builder was it?
There should be a soil stack in each house
However what are they going to do about if if you refuse? Block up the pipe so it can't enter 'their' soil stack?
Wouldn't be easier if you just offered to repair it and have done with any argument

These are two ex local authority properties sold to private landlords really just wanted to know who is responsible for repairs is soil stack is it owned by them or joint owned,problem is solved for now but for future ref would like to comfirm as properties were built in late 50s earley 60s seems to be grey area as to which landlord is responsible ours has taken full cost this time to save arguements hope that makes sense

Just wanted to know for future ref as could get costly with age of pipe work and most of work was carried out from our side drilling out old pipe to replace with new,plus our kitchen sink needing to be removed to fix it

Shared stack,I would say share cost if that needs repair.If your pipe has failed your responsibility and hope your neighbor don't sue for any water damage to their property.Dont fall out over a few ££££

Thank you relpies no falling out lol just wanted to clarifiy as there is info on adopted drains etc if they fall within the foot print of your house just didn't know if same applied for soil stack .

Drains from a Water Company view will be below ground. But flats are slightly different in shared ownership anyway and relates to curtillage etc.

As it's a soil stack, it will based on proportional responsibility. Basically, you are liable for any sections you use (equally with anyone else who uses them).

In your case, 50/50 with the neighbour if only the two of you using them.

Having just repaired a mate's flat where 3 other flat's $hit was emptying onto his floor...

Management Co. paid for the repair but they expected him to claim for the damage and reinstatement from his home insurance.
