Someone's nicked our wheelie bin!
Discussion
Our bin day here is a Thursday so on Wednesday night I duly put the bin out behind on to the path behind the house. Nothing unusual there. Went to work and then out for a few drinks on Thursday, return home to find the back gate lock was covered in ice and wouldn't budge, the battery on my phone was dead and I couldn't be arsed finding a torch. I was a bit worse for wear so headed inside for a slash and then straight to bed. Next morning I completely forgot about it and headed away for a few days. Got back today and went to put a bag in it and it's not in the back yard. Open the gate and it's not on the path. The path is very wide so it won't have been blocking anyone so there would be no reason to move it.
Asking about the local area no-one seems to know anything. So I've looked around but no sign, I was going to borrow my mates drone to continue my search but Mrs Panda says no.
I'm moving away in 2 weeks so if It doesn't find it's way back it's going to be a bit of a pain when the house moves on. I'm all out of chilled sausages but I feel if I don't act swiftly and powerfully my standing in the neighbourhood will diminish and before I know it someone will have away with the fence. I need to act and dominate this situation.
Any suggestions, the more amusing the better, will be great fully appreciated. And who knows I'm off work for 2 weeks I may even put some into action.

Just ask the council for another.
Mine went missing last year, called the council bin dept, took my details. New one sent out within 7 days. No charge.
I think its the only time south glos council have ever been even remotely helpful....
Yes but presumably you saying "Hello, this is Contract Killer, I need a new bin" will have focussed the attention somewhat... Mine went missing last year, called the council bin dept, took my details. New one sent out within 7 days. No charge.

One of mine disappeared and the Council wanted a crime reference number before they’d replace it! I live in a tiny Close in a tiny village so rather than reporting it and being another statistic with a knock on insurance rise I held out and three weeks later it appeared... no body parts inside.
Either that or I’ve stolen someone else’s.
Steal someone else’s.
Cheers for your help chaps. I was worried that if I rang the council I would get charged. I can't imagine the bins are cheap for them to procure so I'll give it a bit longer.
As for taking another to replace it the thought had crossed my mind but loads of my neighbours have numbered theirs and it doesn't feel right to make someone else solve the problem. My bin is recognisable because my mate stuck a sticker of former Newcastle midfielder Hatim Ben Arfa on it so I will know when I've found it.

So you got pissed, had a slash, went to bed..............blame everybody for everything that happened in between when you wake up ??
Same old, same old...........

I did indeed leave the bin out as a consequence of the frozen lock and my desire for post night out relief. I then forgot about it in my hungover state the following morning. However the bin didn't think I had neglected it and run off for a better life with a new family; I'm not some sort of bin cowboy who feel asleep on the job and my flock has bolted. It was not inconviencing anyone but yet has been moved and not returned. Same old, same old...........

There’s your answer. It’s been taken to the landfill. In Paris. I hate all those "THIS IS A SIGN" comments and threads but this did happen to friends of ours and apparently it is a well known method of preparation for burglary.
Apparently the tea leafs place the bin somewhere close by and then use that to stash goods, usually before a walk in spree. The Police reckoned this is because they will target a whole area for unlocked doors/windows etc and the chances of someone phoning the rozzers after hearing their doors tried is quite high.
The bins provide a nice stash point so that if they are collared an hour or so later they won't have wallets/tablets/phones on them when stopped and searched. They can then go back in the morning to collect their stuff.
In the case of our friends their bin did turn up about a hundred yards from their house down some cuts in a play area. Could have been kids obviously but that is what the police said when they reported it.
