I'm getting fed up of the general crap towels we have and want to buy some nicer quality ones, however I'm struggling to find anything online!

I know I want 100% Egyptian cotton, and 900gsm or greater, however I would really like some recommendations. It would be nice to be able to buy something that lasts a while (the last ones we have got, the side hems have started to come away after about a year of use).

Got some recently from John Lewis, not sure what brand but so thick you could hide a badger in them.

Christy towels are very good quality and last ages. They sell them at Debenhams and have an outlet shop at Cheshire Oaks.

It's supposed to be good
More important is tumbled dried soft & fluffy or line dried & a bit scratchy?

I agree. Good quality, retain colour, soft & fluffy (if tumble dried). We've had some for about 20 years now, and still like new. I also regularly snip off threads when required. This stops them looking shabby.

I have some from John Lewis; they're ste, fell apart in next to no time despite being quite costly.

Would not recommend.

I wasn’t aware this international standard for depth and fluffiness

irked Washed as per instruction every time - genuinely annoyed when they started going tatty given the outlay.

They are pretty bloody fluffy and thick in fairness, though!

I used John Lewis' own brand towels, they're great and hold up over the years!

That's because few people live to tell who they bought their excellent towels from.

I've got some Sainsburys branded towels and they seem OK - I think the washing machine cycle and liquid is as important.
