Earlier today approx 10 miles from me someone decided it a good idea to light a bonfire, it got a little out of control...

I'm guessing everyone has to claim off their own insurance (if they have any) who will then look to reclaim from the fire starter? If this is the case and the fire starter has no insurance could they be taken to court or does something like this get listed as an 'accident'?

Yep, plenty of recycling centres around, although most people are too fking bone idle to get off their fat arses and take it.

Bonfires are anti social at the best of times anyway - windows are all open, washing is on the line, people out just enjoying their gardens etc.

Exactly. It’s simply uncivilised and down right bloody rude in the first instance to have a bonfire at this time of year.

Out in the cotswolds doing a MTB sportive yesterday and everything is tinder dry - a farmer decided this would be an excellent occasion to burn a downed tree right by a field full of crops etc - no need to bother keeping an eye on it either - unattended is good.

I think "pig st" is considered a "pass" in Trowbridge.

Bonfires in the afternoon - sounds like the title of a Manic Street Preachers song from the 90's.

We’ve a serial offender of the bonfire tt variety around here. Gardens are a fair size & well screened with mature hedges & trees, but the fact remains it isn’t the sticks and there are plenty of houses around.

In fact someone in the offending area has been cutting their hedge since 8.30 this morning (antisocial in itself) so I will not be surprised if a load of smoke billows over later.....

It’s always the ‘I’m alright Jack’ types, so many of them around these days, as long as the smoke goes away from there house then it’s fine.....

I just take it all down the dump, a bonfire never gets rid of it all anyway.

Walking in my local pine forest you can actually smell the vegetation burning without it actually being on fire, given all the scummy, townie tourists we get here these days I'm amazed a discarded cig or bottle hasn't caused a fire (yet)

Just about to think about firing up the bbq, dry conditions, burning fat, plenty of alcohol means a recipe for disaster. Best put the fire service on alert biglaugh

Now where did I see my high viz vest hehe
