Wheelie bin house number stickers
Discussion
Why do most people feel the need to put absolutely MASSIVE house number stickers on their wheelie bins? It does my head in.
At no point is anybody going to be far enough away from said bin to require seeing what number house it belongs to.
When it's next to your house the number serves no purpose whatsoever.
When the guy whose just taken the bin to the refuse/recycling lorry to empty it is bringing it back - he's right f
king next to it, so unless he's got the eyesight of Mr Magoo, a 3 inch high number will suffice. Not something akin to the f
king Hollywood sign. In fact a bigger number on the house would be of more benefit because now he's further away from it than he is the bin.
Pointless and chavvy !

Because counterintuitively, it works and I don't end up binless. The binmen around my place just seem to put the things back wherever and having a number on it means I get it back. And your head being done in is none of my concern.

I have badly aerosoled runny numbers on my bins. They aren't my property and their job is to hold refuse. I don't give a s
t what they look like.
What I don't understand is why people stick neat vinyl numbers on, or cover their bins in flower wraps.
These are the same people who hide the spare bog roll under a doll in a knitted dress, keep their TV guide in a fake leather binder, and their tv remote in a pouch hung over the arm of the sofa.

Surely the ratio of bins to houses = 1.
So if no. 46 gets yours, you get theirs?
You get home, having left your bin at your door step.....no bin is now within 30 feet of your front door, let alone has your house number on it.......So if no. 46 gets yours, you get theirs?
What do you do ?
Some of my neighbours are getting on a bit so I drag their bins up & down the Street for them if they're too heavy. They all put numbers on so I don't have to mess around looking for numbers in faded black marker if I get home late in winter.
If that's pointless & chavvy then so be it.

No problem with the number, it just doesn't need to be so effing big. If you see a cluster of homeless looking bins down the road (surely they can't be TOO far away) you're going to have to walk towards them anyway to collect what is rightfully yours, look at the numbers when you arrive. You don't need to be able to see the number from the other end of the bloody county.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
