I’m looking for some advice/direction on buying/fitting smart window film or blinds.

Mums coming to live with us, after a 5 month stay in hospital after a quite severe stroke, we’re trying to make life as easy as possible as there’s still major mobility issues.

So, rather than having cords, or rods, we are looking to have a relatively simple: push a button, or app on an iPad or something, and the windows will let in light, push again, and lights out; so to speak.

I’ve seen plenty on google, watched YouTube videos, been shocked by the prices, and would like some real world input.

So over to PH, can you guide me,

Thanks

Ikea will shortly be launching their own range of smart blinds - http://www.hiddenwires.co.uk/news/article/ikea-pre...

They will almost certainly be a lot cheaper than those currently on the market.

If it's something as simple as a roller blind or even a vision, these can be motorised at very sensible cost.

Do a google search for Louvolite one touch (I could post a lot more but don't want to "advertise" on here smile

Don’t suppose they can be added to existing “day-night” blinds?

We have 4 x 4m-wide blinds....won’t consider replacing them, but giving electric control would be useful!

Not easily Mike.

The motorised system uses a 35mm tube (or 40mm single slot), most visions will use 32 or 40mm. Probably more toruble than it's worth

Same here (3 blinds across 4.5m sliders), but without the Alexa control - I'm going to look into that now, thanks!

Before you do another thread suggested Louvolite were going to do something native (there weren't many details then)

Thank you (again). Will look into that as the preferred option (assume it'll be fairly slow going with suppliers as so new, but we'll see!)
