Surey im not the only one with a list of odd jobs in my house that have sat waiting to be done for months or even years, yet despite the tools or the knowledge to tackle them i just cant be arsed.

Il give you a few of mine

My downstairs loo toilet seat is crap and is not matched to the toilet, therefore it doesnt hold itself up. This just needs the hinges pulling forward and retightening yet ive lived with a blob of blue tac holding the lid against the cistern whilst its up for the best part of 6 months now.

We chose some paint samples for the hall about 3 years back, after we had whitewashed the whole house in preparation for decoration, the other day i got the white back out and went over the paint samples again, despite us having 10litres of the paint in the cupboard under the stairs ready to go.

When digging around in the walls for a cable that feeds the alarm keypad i created 3 quite big holes. Instead of getting the filler out i moved a big canvas picture from the living room and covered the holes with it. 2 years thats been there now.

My en suite basin tap gets you wet through if you lift the lever even a qtr of the way up. It just requires a screwdriver to turn the isolators off a bit to restrict the flow, i look like i have pissed myself most mornings. 4 years and counting.

But i just cant be arsed....

I put off replacing my gutters for years. Did it last summer as leaking gutters mean I now have to replace window frames that have rotted ..... Doh

Bathroom sink is a bit wobbly.

Turns out the only way to fix it would be to disconnect the plumbing, remove the sink, sink new fixing into the wall and reassemble.

So f**k it.

I've got a fair few. It's not so much that I can't be arsed more that our house was a "project" when we bought it and I've spent way to much time doing stuff to the point of having had enough really, also we've had two kids in the meantime and when they're younger you really don't have much spare time at the weekends.

I've decided this year to try and tackle some of it. Just take a small job each weekend that can be done in a few hours. So far I've fixed the guttering on the shed. Added some guttering to the kids playhouse as the rain was running off the roof splashing up and slowly rotting away the bottom of it. Added a gutter and a water butt to the allotment shed (wife's allotment but the nagging got through in the end. Finally I've added some shelves into an alcove in our hall to store shoes in. There would have been more but I had a sh*tty cold start the weekend before last and I was still getting over it last weekend.

The weekend I'm going to fit some U channel into another alcove to take some glass shelving that I'm going to back light with LED strips. Something else the wife's been asking for. Also the fill valve on the middle floor bog isn't shutting off properly so I'll swap that over.

Might finally get on with our garden too once the weather warms up a bit.

Mine is solving the three way light switch issue in our bedroom, one of our lights only turns on if you find the magic combination of switch positions. I’m sure it’s easy enough to solve, my dad is an electrician as well!

Had similar in our hallway, Hue bulbs fixed that for us biggrin

Both my front and back doors don't seem to be fitted properly - both take a proper ragging to open and close (PVC, no swollen wood) so probably just need an alignment. Will keep ragging for now.

The hot tap in my ensuite delivers just a trickle even after exerting mole-grip levels of twisting to it. The cheapy tap is a mixer that doesn't have any way of dismantling it and one of the type that requires the whole basin being removed before you can get access to its mounting fixings.

So, um, meh.

Sounds like you've got a female switch there.

We have had a full, major house renovation that is nearly finished so most big jobs are done - there are hundreds of little jobs.

Outside lights, sheds, log stores, decorating, finish flooring etc.

Obviously the perfect time to build a granny flat/air b&b in the west wing

A bath handle than needs fixing on from over a year ago. I have all the parts, bought the enamel repair kit, one day I'll be able to get out of the bath a bit easier..

New wardrobes fitted 14 years ago, still haven't been painted....

Put my foot through the loft ceiling 14 months ago. It was replastered 13 months ago. Still haven't painted it. It's easier to dust all the plaster dust up than seal the plaster with a coat of paint.

The top sash window in my main bathroom doesn't drop because of paint making it stick. I've had a half hearted go but need to remedy from outside.

Cannot be bothered to get on ladder and fix.

Slacken it off a little from its current fixing, throw some mastic into the gap between it and the wall, tighten up as best you can and if need be wedge sink in place, leave to set and jobs a gooden, the lazy mans way to repair a wobbly sink!

I reckon it's about the only female thing on this thread.

I'm sure all posters on this thread live alone - I wouldn't get away with not fixing stuff!

I have a small patch on three walls around the house where, around this time every year, the paint just turns to powder and flakes off if you so much as look at it. Come April / May I'll just sand it off and repaint it and the same will happen again next year. I cannot be arsed trying to fix whatever is causing this (it doesn't appear to be damp).

Our bedroom window is knackered as it doesn't close fully - about a 2" gap when closed! I fixed it by shoving a plastic bag in the gap and sealing with sellotape and it's been like it for over 2 years now.

Removed the bathroom radiator 12 months ago and there were no tiles behind.. Still no tiles on the wall.

Front gate handle is knackered and keeps coming off in my hand locking myself out.. I fixed it by tieing it up with string.

We've been living in our house for 9 years and have always wanted to get the kitchen knocked through.

I've managed to put it off for nearly a decade, but I've finally bitten the bullet and got a structural engineer do the calculations so we're ready to bring the builders in now.

Hopefully this project is just going to generate a whole list of things to never do...

Radiator in the bedroom weeps from the inlet nut at the bottom. It only does it after I have to top up the pressure in the system every couple of weeks, presumably because the pressure is high enough to force the water out. I expect it only needs half a turn with a spanner to fix it but I can't be arsed getting my toolbox out so there's a mug sat permanently underneath it to catch the drips hehe .

I bought a floor standing bathroom cabinet/cupboard thing about 3 months ago to store all the cleaning stuff in etc but it's still flat packed in the box leaning against the hallway.

Around the same time, I bought all sealants, sealant remover, sealant gun etc to re-do around the bath and shower as it's all split and there are gaping holes which the water is getting through. Still not done it and instead I bought a load of thick cloths and line all those over the holes to catch the water hehe .
