A conclusion -Neighbour wanting a front extension, not happy.
Discussion
Well, we've had some news today, and it's not great
For him, it's been refused!
I saw him out the front this morning, whilst we were chatting to friends, with two pieces of wood, formatted in the shape of would be porch, being held up against his house (the portal hasn't been updated, no surprise there, our approved extension is still saying in progress!)
I thought we needed an update, so went over to ask him what the latest was. 'basically, they've told me to fk off' was his reply.
They have argued that the other porches nearby are at least designed as porches, and objected that if it's not of UPVC or brick then it's not happening. They've also refused on the grounds of a sliding door (which they described as a patio door...) and to the proposed poly carbonate roof, saying it must be slate.
He relented on the last two points, but wouldn't budge on the construction method.
So, he's very pissed off at them, but he has decided not to appeal, and is instead going to go for a slate awning.
Happy days.
So, to those of you who were behind us, the half dozen who PM'd me support (you know who you are) thank you. To the majority who were behind us for the first 15 pages or so, before a few waded in and changed the zeitgeist of the original thread thank you.
And finally, and I'm not making this personal, Equss (I have a feeling that may be misspelt, if so apologies) please don't wade in on this thread, after recent sad events at our end, still effecting us, I am really NOT in the mood.
Back to the allotment for another 3 hours now, building a fox proof chicken run for S. I trust I won't return to mayhem, and hence me having to close the thread!
Enjoy this sun everyone.

I don’t think anyone, apart from your neighbour, thought it would look anything other than horrible!
Good news, but was it wise to open this up again?
We were 'right' all along it transpires, so I'm happy within myself that we don't need to question our position. Good news, but was it wise to open this up again?
I had considered not doing, but PH never likes an unconcluded story, so I'm trying to be the bigger man about it.
If it kicks off I'll be swift in closing the thread, that can only be down to others, I'll not get involved in tittle tattle.
Right, ta ta for now.

Good news!
I hope you've got planning permission for the chicken run
There have been Chickens kept on these allotments for 110 years, I'm sure we'll be good I hope you've got planning permission for the chicken run
(Plus these are privately owned, not council, so far less in the way of rules etc)

Great news after all the hassle and stress, sorry that you have bad news on top of it though.
Thank you Steve, B7INNS and WR. It's not tragedy level, but very sad, S miscarried a few weeks ago, for the second time, at the end of our IVF program. It's knocked us for 6 somewhat.

Not had that result, but been through the process. It’s very rough. Best wishes. It's not tragedy level, but very sad, S miscarried a few weeks ago, for the second time, at the end of our IVF program. It's knocked us for 6 somewhat.

It’s almost like you only want to hear from people who agree with you and shut down anything else. That’s not the idea of a forum you know. A ‘bigger man’ wouldn’t have demanded the original thread’s closure and then started a new one insisting people don’t disagree. That's a tad unfair. How many threads have I ever asked to be closed? I'm pretty sure that that one was the only one, ever. I took 10 pages of, TBF, bullying and unpleasantness, before finally saying 'enough'. And funnily, as touched on up the page, the general tone for the first 15 (?) pages was support and agreement, before some waded in, and the mood changed. That tends to happen a lot on PH, posters following the heard.
I can deal perfectly fine with differing opinion, cheers for that put down, but what I can't deal with (especially right now) is pack mentality bullying.

Great result. It would have looked absolutely ste. Given the apparent apathy of the neighbour, maybe even he realised too?
I can see how you would wonder, but highly unlikely. He was determined to have it, and I presume he's admitted defeat, after much (what he would consider) battling with the local planning dept. I'd also imagine that the bullishness he often uses would have gone down like a turd in the duvet with them. The vitriol coming out his gob yesterday about them suggests he believes he's been wronged.
