Do you think this is natural rock or concrete? I am after some rocks for a garden feature and been offered these for delivery cost only, but can't tell if its natural or not. Any experts out there who can confirm, seller is a middleman who is not sure !

Thanks guys for that. Next trickier question - what rock is it?

Its in Telford, if that helps with natural rock in certain areas....

If you like it and it does the job, what does it matter if it's real or fake?

It doesn’t look like natural rock to me, more like broken up concrete. You don’t often find big lumps of rock in new housing estates either. The fact that it’s offered at zero cost is a bit of a give away.......

Big lumps of rock have a value, around £45/tonne. I suspect it’s free because it’s concrete and the lumps are too big to fit in a mobile crusher. I’d want to go and have a proper look before your garden becomes a dump for someone else’s rubbish.

Got any high rez pictures?

I have arranged to see them tomorrow. How do you tell the difference between concrete and limestone ?

Its for an adventure golf site I am building and I need large features, so not the end of the world if its concrete, as long as it looks like rock from a distance !

If it’s proper rock you should be able to tell by snapping it in half..........

Hmm, that’s a good question, you just do in my business. biggrin

Concrete will look lumpy for want of a better word, it’s got aggregate particles mixed in with a cement mortar. Limestone will look more consistent, it has a much smaller grain or particle size. Basically the concrete will look like a mix of two different materials whereas the limestone will look much more uniform and more like a natural material.

Easier if you pour water on it.
