I expect this will be moved but I want a door bell. That's all. A door BELL
I don't want one that plays the National Anthem, Jingle Bells or The Stars and Stripes ( I'm not Frank).
Just a bloody bell. Or at worst a two tone bing bong.
Can anyone help please? Surely thses things are still made.

You could get a psychological doorbell like Bill Bailey...

I have a Byron. It’s great, it just goes ding dong, but doesn’t go bing bong.

Sure you wouldn't prefer one of these? smile

We inherited a Westminster Chimes doorbell when we moved in. It's so loud, and so kitsch, that we decided to keep it as it gives visitors a laugh. We also have a knocker for those of a sensitive nature.

Yes please buy one of these, my mother-in-law gets a royalty for every one sold, it’s my inheritance at stake.

I understand where you are coming from. I wanted a simple doorbell to replace the antique there previously. They are hard to come by.

I ended up with this: https://www.toolstation.com/mains-battery-doorbell...
And it luckily worked with my old transformer - or I'd probably have shoved batteries in it as I was running our of patience.

I think I found 2 or 3 models of Byron that would have been simple/suitable enough (from toolstation or screwfix), everything else was just overpriced dross.

In my last house there was a proper bell with exposed dome and clapper. It was superb and could be heard everywhere in the house. A a bonus my mother-in-law (God rest her soul) had a habit of standing right under it in the doorway to the utility and if it rang she very nearly shat herself! biggrin

this or this will fit the bill nicely. One is battery powered and the other needs a transformer. I'd go for the second one personally.

I had this problem with my renovation project, I bought the first one on your list because it looks exactly like the ones we all had in the houses we grew up in, so I knew it was a proper bell.

I ended up with two, so I used a spare alarm cable to add the second one in my workshop, both run off the same button. It's so useful being able to hera the bell out there. Another one going in the loft shortly.....

I have one of those, it's excellent.

Avoid the very cheap analogue wireless bells, I had one and every month or so it would just go off randomly in the middle of the night.
