Am I the only person with a great landlord?

My wife and I own a house, unfortunately, as it's in a civilised part of the country and I need to be paid for my work, it's a few hundred miles away from where we have to live for the foreseeable future.
So we rent a flat in Watford. In an industrial estate (one of these new conversion thingies; this used to be an office but is now a flat). And the landlords (who own the industrial estate) are genuinely the most lovely and helpful people. I just cannot understand this as according to the internet it should be a terrible, antagonistic relationship, each of us trying to fight a zero-sum game of who can neglect the property the most - but they go above board to assist whenever there is an issue with boiler/dryer type things the flat came with, and otherwise are just the most friendly folk. Is this just because they're used to letting commercial property where tenants are more likely to be decent folk, or have we lucked out? Or maybe, just maybe, is the constant anti-landlord stuff in this forum just extreme cases?

I had two landlords in France who were helpful, honest, reliable: absolutely perfect really. I had another in France who initially seemed to be all of those things, but then tried to scam me out of my deposit because she knew I'd left the country and would struggle to do anything about it. I also had a multimillionaire landlord in the UK who looked like a rough sleeper, used her properties to hoard old junk that anyone normal would throw away, and also tried to scam me out of my deposit at the end of the tenancy.
It's like anything really, you get good and bad. It wouldn't put me off renting again if I had to, but the freedom of having our own place is definitely preferable.

When the house flooded we had to move into a rented bungalow for a year. Landlord there was excellent, the garage door was replaced without asking and we were left to it. When we moved out out they thanked us for leaving the place cleaner than we got it and released our deposit immediately without complaint. Totally unexpected but a really good experience!
Too many see renting out a property as a way to make money but dont realise they are providing a service and should keep their customers happy.
Fortunately for them it's not quite as easy to change your home as it is for many of the other services you pay for in life so tenants get a bit stuck.

One was great and proactive at first but as he clearly started to struggle with letting his other properties, standards started to slip.
Another treated me as the son they never had, and I felt most welcome, as if I was a beloved steward of their character property, but upon renewal tried to jack up the price excessively, and upon leaving over this matter as well as personal issues, tried to sting me regarding utilities bills.
One was great and proactive at first but as he clearly started to struggle with letting his other properties, standards started to slip.
Another treated me as the son they never had, and I felt most welcome, as if I was a beloved steward of their character property, but upon renewal tried to jack up the price excessively, and upon leaving over this matter as well as personal issues, tried to sting me regarding utilities bills.
When I first moved to Bristol in 2007 I had a lovely pair of landlords - husband and wife who had retired and bought a few student houses, they popped by every few weeks to empty the bins, particularly recycling, as they were always overflowing with 6 apprentices. They cut the grass for us too, and the only issue we had was when we accidentally broke the coffee table. We were charged a rather exorbitant sum of £5 each to replace it.
I am now a landlord and have a lovely tenant living in my property. I wanted someone to move in long term, and said that as long as they stayed, I'd never increase the rent. He moved into the house in 2015, and is still there. The rent has not increased, he keeps the house very tidy. Every Christmas he sends me a card and I send him a bottle of wine. Even my estate agents that manage the property are impressed how much of a perfect tenant he is.

Cue newspaper interview with neighbors.....Oh he was SUCH. a nice man always said hello ...as did his wife till she upped and left in the middle of the night...only issue was he insisted on relaying his patio at 3 in the morning.....I am now a landlord and have a lovely tenant living in my property. I have never had a problem with landlords but I have dealt with two letting agents who tried every scam in the book to either charge for non existent damage or failed to return a deposit .
My lady friends daughter is a director/ co-owner of a lettings agency , judging by the amount of gifts from both owners and tennats they must be doing something right .
Having done maintenance work on many of her properties in the past the vast percentage of problems is with the tennants.

I reckon the majority of landlords are decent honest folk, it's only the bad ones you hear about, and those are used by the likes of those bds McDonnell and Corbyn to paint a picture of every landlord in the land letting nothing but grotty damp infested stholes and taking in vast sums of money.
I would like to think I'm a good landlord, nothing gets let out that I wouldn't be prepared to live in myself and most tenants have been in my properties for 5yrs plus with no rent increases.
Unfortunately most policies designed to target the bad landlords end up punishing the good ones, If the dodgy landlords didn't conform to the last lot of regulations they are sure as hell going to ignore the new ones. Prosecution rates for the likes of overcrowding or uninhabitable let's are still pathetically low across most councils.

I was a Landlord, my tennents where a nightmare, they cancelled the direct debit from day one so i never got my rent on time, the agents, a national one did nothing to help us, when the boiler failed i managed to have a brand new fitted in 2 days and still the fkers moaned that it took to long. I cant see myself being one again, so much stress.

He came back after with his some chocolates and a bottle of fizz to say thank you for the assistance. I do most of the basic diy around the place if it needs doing and give receipts.
