Long story short...got a neighbour who has decided to have a go at my mum for parking (despite the fact that she always parks perfectly legally and never blocks anyone in) and for us making too much noise when in the house.
His words were ‘heaven forbid that your car gets a scratch on it, you’ve only got a Seat Leon’ and ‘you only work in a caravan park, I’m in the navy’
Now for starters, it doesn’t matter what you drive, if it’s your pride and joy and you like it then no one should be saying that; for the record he owns a 2011 Kia Venga diesel and a diesel Octavia vRs. Secondly, what does your job have anything to do with it? Also thirdly, I’m barely at home and it is just my mum who isn’t exactly a party animal.
Would you do anything or approach him? Or just let it settle?

If he is in the navy he may know how to handle himself, so if you aren't a fighter, wait till he is outside with witnesses/CCTV rather than knocking on his door.
Also if he is in the navy, will he be disappearing at some point on duty?
I would have a polite conversation just to listen to his grievances and hopefully find a solution.

Mum has instructed me to not speak to him, however I am tempted to because it isn’t fair and no one should speak to my mum like that. Never have we complained about the late night parties and dogs barking at 6am!
Definitely Navy, this is proved by him leaving his Octavia in a visitors parking space for 6 months whilst he is at sea. He is just about to have a kid with his partner who lives at the same address.

Sorry YMCA springs to mind, oops.
Same here, he doesn’t seem as threatening after watching this

I’d be inclined to spend some cash on an obvious camera. Either a fake one for peanuts, or perhaps a blink or similar.....then have a chat. find out what his problem is.
But understand if your mum doesn’t want the appearance of trouble.
Sounds like a lovely human. Perhaps scratch his car first
(just kidding - don’t lower yourself,)

(just kidding - don’t lower yourself,)Personally, if it were my mum, I'd go round and politely tell him that if he has any issues at all to come and see me instead of being threatening to a lady. Doesn't have to be aggressive. It just makes the point of "this stops now, come and argue with me if you need to". In most cases the recipient might act tough, but in reality , be ashamed of picking on someone's mum. He might just have had one bad day and let off steam with the nearest person.
P.s. I saw a load of navy lads the other day and "tough" was not a word I'd have chosen. Irrelevant but interesting none the less.
