Help, my sons friend whose a chippy hung my two panel front door, I wasn’t hovering over him and he hung the two panel door upside down. Bigger panel should be down the bottom. He has put new hinges on the door and new handle on the right. He did a fantastic job and hasn’t charged me for it. He took 5 hours to install the new solid wood door. I don’t have the heart to call him back and say it’s hung upside down. Does the weight (since there’s more wood on top) affect the opening and the closing of the door or the door jamb. It’s been hung for a week and door is rubbing on the strike plate. Can I flip the door to be hung the right way up. How do I bog the handle hole and what with. Plus the hinges cut outs will be noticeable as when it’s flipped it will show, can I buzz this?? All this buzzing will this make more space for drafts to come in?? HELP please ?? Will another handyman touch this job or should I tell him about it??

Are you sure it's upside down? Most two panel doors have the bigger panel to the top.

Agree with this, the bigger panel is usually at the top..

How does a new username get 2 posts under their name but when you look they actually only have made 1 post?

Because the poster put the same question in two different forums, but one was deleted, either by them or a mod.

Is it an upside down door? I have one in my house and it's actually meant to look like that .

Setting aside we may be being trolled and ignoring panel configuration, a sure fire way to tell which way up is the width of the bottom and top rails; wider rail to the bottom.

I’ve just bought an old property, one of the doors is upside down and the door 12” away is the correct way, that takes a special kind of stupid. The panels don’t tell the whole story as some doors are different from others, the give away is the deep bottom rail. We need a photo to see if the OPs doors is correct or not.

The door's fine. It's you that's upside down.

Try going to google images and searching for "4 panel doors". They've all got the bigger panel at the top.

That's clearly not upside down. If you hung it the other way, how the hell would the cat get up there? biggrin
