Recliner Chairs

My mum was after a new 3 piece suite and today I took her somewhere she wanted to visit but wasn't confident she could find by herself.
We seem to have gone from a 3 piece suite to her looking at recliner chairs as after she swallowed her pride and tried some she quickly went from "I'm not that old" to "Oh these are so comfortable".
Some of the manufacturers have websites but would anyone have any experience on things to watch out for?
Also any suggestions on places in the midlands that have a good range on display and plugged in so you can try them out?

I purchased a sofa that had a reclining section at each end when in my 40's & it's a joy. You don't have to be old not to appreciate comfort or suddenly find yourself less mobile & even ill & thus needing such a style of chair that has the facility to raise your legs.
Pride & ego get in the way too often & not just when it comes to cars.
This reminds me of a very snobby boss who was very conscious of his age & refused to even consider using SAGA for his holidays. Thus he paid through the nose for almost the same holidays as me because the moment I was 50 I was only too happy to take advantage of some good SAGA deals which also ensured no blasted kids about when in nice hotels or latterly on their ships.

This reminds me of a very snobby boss who was very conscious of his age & refused to even consider using SAGA for his holidays. Thus he paid through the nose for almost the same holidays as me because the moment I was 50 I was only too happy to take advantage of some good SAGA deals which also ensured no blasted kids about when in nice hotels or latterly on their ships.
Last year I bought a laziboy recliner, it’s one of the best things I own to be honest

Tell me about it I tried a few of them and I'm bloody tempted.Regards brands Sherborne seem to feature heavily.

DFS are local but from their website they don't seem to do the "known" brands like Sherborne.
We have 1 electric chair and 1 manual chair and an electric Sofa.
Sofa - Only the outside seats recline electrically, the centre one is manual.
For me the big advantage is that there are two independent motors and controls for the seat and backrest

I have electric recliners on my sofa,& 1 on a chair. Love them,had them since mid 40s,should have gone earlier! Only PITA is having to lower it to get up,& more crap can get under the sofa
Also have an electric bed thats good for watching TV, but thats only because wife needs to sleep partly upright & its easier than a ton of pillows

Sorely tempted by both as I need a new mattress anyway
Must admit I'd previously held the mindset that recliners are for old people and I'd never even considered a reclining bed but it was fantastic

I would have agreed with the "old people's" sentiment and then I sat in one.
My parents have a Daneway Mobelteam recliner in a cracking yellow colour, by far the nicest of its type I have sat in.
They stopped making them, and an older second hand one in more basic spec wasnt as good, but it looks like they might have start production again.

A lot of recommendations here are either Asian imports/reproductions or inferior quality.
For recliners, I recommend www.stressless.co.uk.
Proper, Norwegian-built with real leather. 10 year guarantee too...
As for a stockist, whereabouts in the Midlands? Lee Longlands in Birmingham always had a good range.

He went to the local "antiques" dealer and bought an upright wingback chair and loves it.

We got 2 seat and 3 seat lay z boy leather sofas - only the ends recline on the 3 seat, and they are manually operated. Not sure which part of the midlands you are but I bought mine from here in Northampton, good selection to try out

They've been great, as you can push the backs to recline further going almost flat.
We've had them for around 17 years now and the 3 seat is used every day - still going well.
