Sick to death of using my years old hose real where the fixings seem to explode off the end after a few mins pressure washing. I bought a load of better quality Gardena couplings a while back that helped a bit.

So I need a reel of about 20-25 metres max.

My biggest gripe comes from the short length of hose that goes from the tap to the reel. Am I right in saying you cut a length say 3 metres from the new hose to do this or am I missing something?

Edited to say I think I’ve found the answer to the short hose part https://www.tooled-up.com/hozelock-threaded-tap-ho...

All brands a prices considered.

I’ve got a Flopro, good for the money, and does not have the built-in self destruct after 18 months mechanism that all Hozelock products seem to have, in fact the cheap and cheerful Toolstation connectors and a pack of spare O rings off ebay have kept me leak free for about 8 years now

I'm a fan of hozelock superhoze.

No need for reels, easy to coil and doesn't kink.

Best "garden hose" I've found is the FITT braided hose from Screwfix: https://www.screwfix.com/p/fitt-50m-heavy-braided-... for the 50m, and shorter lengths are available. As good as the best Hozelock in my view, and cheaper.

Just chop off a section to connect to the tap, and make sure it's a clean slice. Use a proper hose cutting tool, a cigar cutter, or VERY sharp scissors.

Don’t think they are recommended for use with a pressure washer

Do not buy this..

https://www.screwfix.com/p/hozelock-2-in-1-reel-wi...

It is the worst hose I have ever used. Within 2 weeks I threw this in the bin... The material quality is so bad, that is just constantly stops flow and bends so easily.

Agreed, I swapped it out for a compact enclosed Hozelock reel and it's much easier to wind in neatly.

I recently bought a hozelock wheeled fast cart - it is absolutely brilliant. Really easy to unreel the hose and just as easy to wheel it back in again. It does only come with a 2m piece of hose to connect it to the tap, but if you only need 25m you can chop some off the main hose to make a longer connector.

For a fixed to the wall type hose I ended up with one of these Gardena hoses. Quality seems good and better than the Hozelock one I had before.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/GARDENA-Wall-Mounted-Hose...

A bit longer than you need, but they may do shorter ones. Have had this just over a year now and can't really fault it TBH. Had a Hozelock unit before and that used to leak where the hose from the tap fitted from the reel. No leaks as yet from this one :-)

I bought this from COstco for £130 it is expensive but obvioulsy magnitudes better than Hozelock stuff which is crap, they really do dine out on their brand name and wide distribution

Tricoflex 3/4” pipe with Geka connectors.

Our hose is just starting to fail after 10 years, and the Geka connectors will survive the apocalypse.

Hozelok stuff is utter junk.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

My real is definitely going, I think it crimps the hose where the water comes in too(just what you don't need when maintaining pressure is the name of the game).

I've got a length of "premium" hozelock hose and got my Gardena connectors back together and I think that will work for my short length - I didn't mention I had some expanding hose that has failed in under a year(thought it would be perfect as my short length as the connectors came pre fitted, but they died, so in the bin it goes.)

We got a Hozelock 30m with auto reel and its mega. so much better than having to wind it up every time.

Hozelock hose is absolutely rubbish, but I've not had any issues with their reels and fittings when used with far better quality hose.

I replaced the hose with Fitt Heavy Braded Wintech Hose from Screwfix: https://www.screwfix.com/p/fitt-30m-heavy-braided-...

Had it a couple of years now and it still looks like new, it doesn't twist or kink and it comes on and off the reel easily.
