Picked up a second hand mower for £4 potentially for parts for my existing one

The parts mower all looks good but doesn’t work, unknown by previous owner, done all my checks and it all looks ok, only bit I’m not sure on is this, it’s a Lawnmower Thermal Protector

Is it sacrificial and needs replacing once trigger or should it recover.

Have you checked it out for continuity with a multimeter, or tried just shorting across the two wires?
